The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their home opener at Cowboys Stadium with a 16-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the Cowboys offense sputtered most of the game, but their defense picked up the slack to power the team to victory.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had nothing but praise for his defense after the win.

“To win this game, with the way our defense played, and grind it out,” Romo said. “This is a very, very satisfying win, even though it will kind of get lost in the shuffle as you move into the season. These are the kind of wins you have to have.”

The Cowboys defense held the Buccaneers offense to 163 total yards. Demarcus Ware led the Cowboys defense with two sacks and cause two fumbles while linebacker Sean Lee had six tackles (5 solo) and one interception.

Next up for the Cowboys will be the Chicago Bears (2-1) on Monday Night Football on ESPN.

Notes:

Passing: T. Romo (DAL) – 283 YDS, 1 INT

Rushing: D. Martin (TB) – 19 CAR, 53 YDS

Receiving: M. Austin (DAL) – 5 REC, 107 YDS

**Cowboys safety Barry Church ruptured his Achilles tendon and will be out for the rest of the season.
