On December 16,1979 the NFC East championship and home field advantage was on the line for the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach engineered a miraculous fourth-quarter comeback giving the Dallas Cowboys a 35-34 win.

The week leading up to the game, Cowboys’ defensive end Harvey Martin received a funeral wreath, allegedly sent by a member of the Washington Redskins. 

Martin, kept it in his locker all week for motivation and after the Cowboys win, he ran into the Redskins’s locker room opened the door and threw the funeral wreath into the room, breaking up their team prayer.
