Dallas Cowboys Draft Prospect: Lane Johnson

In 2012 as a senior Lane Johnson played in all 13 games for the Oklahoma Sooners. He started 11 of those 13 games at left tackle. 

Johnson was named to the All-American Third Team by CBSSports.com, Second Team All-Big 12, and Academic All-Big 12 First Team. 

NFL Network’s draft guru Mike Mayock ranks Johnson as the third-best tackle in this year’s draft.

Pros

• Ideal frame for a Offensive Tackle; should be able to add weight without losing any mobility.
• Long Arms (35″) that allow him to keep defenders off of his body.
• Shows excellent awareness, picks up blitzes and twists very well.
• Blocks well in open space; does a good job hitting linebackers at the 2nd level.

Cons

• Needs to get stronger and add about 10 lbs of muscle.
• Not a powerful run blocker; grabber not a puncher.
• Inexperienced. A former quarterback, tight end, and defensive end; started two years at OT.
• Lacks a strong anchor; can be gotten by a strong bull rush.
