Classic Mint Julep Recipe for the Kentucky Derby

1–2 minutes

The Mint Julep is a timeless Southern cocktail, famously linked to the Kentucky Derby. Traditionally served in a silver cup, it blends fresh mint, sugar, crushed ice, and Kentucky bourbon for a refreshing, elegant sip.

Its roots trace back to the 18th century, originally used for medicinal purposes. By the 1930s, it became the official drink of the Derby.

To make one, muddle mint and sugar, add crushed ice and bourbon, stir, and garnish with a mint sprig. Classic, cool, and unmistakably Southern.
