November is National Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month and to all of my men out there it’s okay not to be okay. Too many of us men grow up hearing that we need to “tough it out,” to keep emotions hidden behind a mask of strength. But real strength isn’t silence it’s honesty.
It’s admitting when you’re struggling and reaching out for help. Every man, no matter how strong, faces moments of doubt, sadness, or pain. You’re not weak for feeling it means you’re human.
Depression, anxiety, and stress don’t discriminate. They touch fathers, brothers, sons, and friends. Yet far too often, men suffer alone because they fear being judged by the world.
The truth is, asking for help doesn’t make you less of a man it might just save your life.
Check in on the men around you. A simple “How are you really doing?” can open a door that’s been closed too long. And if you’re struggling, please know there’s no shame in talking to someone a friend, a counselor, a doctor, or me. You can also call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or visit their website 988lifeline.org.
You are not alone. Your story matters. Your feelings are valid. Healing begins the moment you reach out.
Let’s break the stigma together and build a world where every man feels safe to speak, to feel, and to heal. Because your life has meaning and it’s worth fighting for.
