Cowboys release defensive lineman Marcus Spears

The Dallas Cowboys officially announced Wednesday that defensive lineman Marcus Spears will be designated for June 1 release.

Spears, 30 was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (20th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Scheduled to make $2 million dollars this season, Spears would have counted $2.7 million against the salary cap. The Cowboys will save 2 million dollars this year in cap space.
