The College Football Playoff selection process always starts debates, incite anger, and causes mayhem this time of year and it was no different today.
Fanbases across the national are screaming “foul” while some universities said they were not going to participate in the postseason this year….😮😮 Yikes!
While the committee aims to reward the “best” teams, the criteria still feel inconsistent in a lot of ways. Balancing conference titles games, strength of schedule, and eye tests unevenly.
Better transparency would go a long way especially in the eyes of the fans. The Selection Committee selected Alabama, a three loss team to make the playoffs as a 8th seed the first time that has ever happened in playoff history.
While other teams like Texas (9-3) who played five top 25 teams beating 3 of them are headed to the CHEEZ-IT Citrus Bowl to play Michigan.
Fans deserve a clearer explanations, not just rankings dropped on a Tuesday night.
Until the current system evolves, excitement and controversy will continue to define college football’s most important playoff selections.
