Whiskey University, located in Columbia, Tennessee, is the brainchild of Colonel Craig Duncan, a lifelong whiskey aficionado with a deep passion for history.
Combining these two interests over an elusive glass of single barrel, he has created a truly unique and educational bourbon experience that is unforgettable.
Colonel Duncan’s dedication to whiskey and bourbon has been recognized on both state and national levels. On October 15th, 2003, Kentucky Governor Paul Patton honored him as a Kentucky Colonel for his role as an ambassador of the bourbon industry, advocating for its virtues across the country.
Later, on August 15th, 2015, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam appointed him as a Tennessee Colonel and Aide-de-Camp to the Governor’s office for his commitment to broadcasting the historic stories that have made Tennessee Whiskey famous worldwide.
The idea for Whiskey University was conceived in September 2009, when Colonel Duncan, along with co-founders Jason Kyle and Ross Osborne, sought to create an institution dedicated to the study and appreciation of whiskey.
By May 2012, the trio began meeting regularly, training each other in whiskey knowledge and collecting rare brands from the eight major bourbon distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
Their passion for whiskey led to the creation of the Tenn-tucky Whiskey Bar, an informal yet impressive whiskey library.
Whiskey University is raising the bar! Now offering 120+ classes across all 50 U.S. states, 8 Canadian provinces, and Puerto Rico. As of January 15, 2025, they’ve expanded into Great Britain and Ireland, bringing top-tier whiskey education worldwide.
Cheers to Colonel Craig Duncan, Founder and President of Whiskey University! His vision is shaping whiskey education worldwide.
